CounselRank ("we", "our", or "us") is a college prediction app designed to help Indian students navigate the CSAB counselling process. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our Android application.
By using CounselRank, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
📍 This app is intended for students in India participating in CSAB / JEE counselling. We do not knowingly collect data from users under the age of 13.
Data We Collect
We only collect what is absolutely necessary to provide our service:
Name, email address, and profile photo (if you sign in with Google).
JEE rank, category, preferred branches/locations you enter in the predictor.
Colleges you save and your priority rankings.
Questions and answers you post in the community forum.
Messages you send to our support team.
Basic device identifiers for crash reporting and app stability (via Firebase).
What We Do NOT Collect
- We do not access your contacts, camera, microphone, or location.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not collect payment or financial information.
- We do not sell your data to anyone — ever.
How We Use Your Data
- To provide college predictions based on your JEE rank.
- To save your wishlist and personalise your experience.
- To power the community Q&A forum.
- To respond to your support tickets.
- To send push notifications for community replies (only if you allow them).
- To fix bugs and improve app performance using crash reports.
We do not use your data for advertising or marketing purposes.
Third-Party Services
CounselRank uses the following trusted third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Firebase (Google) — Authentication, Firestore database, push notifications, and crash reporting.
- Google Sign-In — Optional sign-in method using your Google account.
- Our Backend Server (Render.com) — Processes college prediction requests securely.
We do not share your data with any other third party without your explicit consent.
Delete Your Account
You have the right to delete your CounselRank account at any time. When you delete your account, the following happens:
- Your profile, email, and login credentials are permanently removed.
- Your saved wishlist is deleted.
- Your community posts will be anonymised or removed.
- Any open support tickets will be closed.
How to Delete Your Account
Launch the app on your Android device.
Tap the Profile icon in the bottom navigation bar.
Scroll to the bottom of the Profile screen and tap Delete Account.
Confirm your choice. Your account will be permanently deleted within 7 days.
⚠️ Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If you face any issues deleting your account in-app, email us directly using the button below.
Delete Your Data
Even without deleting your full account, you can request deletion of specific data we hold about you.
What data can be deleted?
- Your predictor search history.
- Your wishlist and saved colleges.
- Community posts and answers.
- Support ticket history.
- All personal data associated with your account.
How to request data deletion
Simply email us with your request. We will process it within 30 days and send you a confirmation.
